Note from Long: I will be giving a quiz in a quest or two. So here's the scope: Some of this info will be given in this quiz. One more thing: No cheating! Please study this, if ya want. It's not only the law, it's a good idea.

Personas and Merger Rules

1. The owner of the persona MUST be present before personas can be merged and/or "bestowed" to another (the only exception is when the owner is either unconscious, or certain conditions are being called for.) The cost for merging is 2 EP for the merged one, and 5 EP for the owner (unless above conditions apply.)

2. Rolling perception dice lower than 5 while in the world of Verga will net you a persona card. It will be blank, though; you must make the persona on your own, but Alex will give assistance.

3. Personas are like mini-characters: they gain XP like characters do. Think of them as bonuses or skills. If you win XP, you may give some XP to that persona (if you are merged with them). This XP may be divided amongst any of the skills of that persona. As they gain XP, dice bonuses are increased and if enough XP is given, they will gain certain abilities, and maybe the persona will let you use their weapon(s) of choice. That is determined by the owner himself.

4. Enemies may also have personas (surprise!). A weak enemy may have a persona to merge with if the going gets tough for them. They maybe humans that wield personas, or other creatures in the World of Verga. Take caution when fighting them.

5. Personas borrowed from an owner may be "recalled" if the owner has a good reason and wills it. If you by chance gained a persona from battle or from a perception roll, the owner does not have the power to "recall" the persona from you, unless you abuse its power.

6. The user of a persona often gains skill in the persona's abilities. Weapons that the personas and previous lives use fall under Weaponskill on the Skills section of the charter. Spells used and persona summons fall under Spellskill.

7. Severe injury or fatigue can force a merge to end. If the merged one's HP goes down to 25% or below during a round, and remains thus until the end of the round, that persona will be forced out due to weakness at the end of the round (unless healed beforehand). Previous lives also are forced out if the merged one loses all EP.

8. Personas that have been forced out and are not in a body will not gain any XP, unless the enemy is defeated on the round that the merged one's HP goes below 25% or under certain circumstances.

9. Personas that fight without their owner and unmerged gain only one fourth as much XP as normal. If summoned to fight by their owner (and their owner is still present) they gain full XP.

10. All personas use 4d((half of owner/holder's sides) plus side bonus) while in battle. A persona that has a +d10 with an owner who has d50 would have 4d30.

11. Merged ones who wish not to be so may separate from the attached persona. Of course, the persona itself will separate themselves (they will form a distrust towards the one they have merged and separated with)

12. Personas have special techs alone and with other personas. If two personas that can use a certain tech are merged with two other persons in battle, that tech can be used. That, however, is under dispute.

13. Personas can be merged with other people during battle if the going gets tough or a required persona is forced out of another person. This is legal, even though it sounds like cheating; the stress of combat allows this.

14. Only one persona and one previous life may be merged to one person. This has been proven true from Alex's experiments.

15. Muns CANNOT merge with personas, but they can gain munnic control of them. It's like sending a dog after a thief, but with special powers. >=)

16. Anyone who develops a special friendship, an affinity, or become attracted to a persona may bring special bonuses (this includes personas AND muns). An example is that Darren develops a special friendship with Laura. So, if Laura uses Darren, he can use Laura's dice instead of his dice.

A table for the XP to dice thing, just to save Aus some stress (and maybe sanity? nahhh... too late):

Bonus Effective Dice XP Needed
+d1 d21 10
+d2 d22 25
+d3 d23 50
+d4 d24 75
+d5 d25 100

Further bonuses, if necessary, can be calculated by looking the expected effective dice up on the dice chart.

A little note: for every +d2 gained, the persona will gain a special skill specified for its elemental. The special skill may also mean gaining the use of that persona's weapon.

The user's gender does not alter in a Persona merge, but their species changes if the Persona is neither a Human or Shapeshifter.

Maintainer's Note:  Personas of characters are found within their profile, if they have one. -=chuckles=- Keep looking...

Unclaimed Personas

These personas are free to anyone, but will be revealed at a proper time. Please e-mail or inquire for ownership.

There are presently no unclaimed personas - sorry...

That is all. Any questions? E-mail me at [email protected]. Changes may and probably will occur.
